Language Works:
Today for language we continued to read our letter “e” book. We again reviewed the objects in the back of the book and identified letter “e” throughout the book. Next, we read pick a perfect pumpkin by Robin Koontz. This is a book about pumpkin harvesting. We learned fun facts about pumpkins. Did you know that because pumpkins have seeds they are considered to be a fruit, pumpkins turn colors as they grow, and they can be blue, red, orange, green, yellow, or white?
Today for literacy we practiced forming letters “A-E” all by ourselves. We reviewed the objects on the back of the letter cards and told Miss. Markeisha what each object was.
Art Smart:
Today for art we put together scare crows. First, we sang a song called Bobby Joe the scare crow. Then, we put together all the pieces to make a scare crow. Miss. Markeisha gave us first the body to color. Then, we added the arms and legs. Finally, we added hands and feet to complete our scare crow. We also practiced our fine motor skills, creativity, and color recognition skills by painting at the art easel using fall colors like red, yellow, and green.
Science Rocks:
Today for science we practiced putting together puzzles with more complex pieces. We used our fall and Halloween puzzles. This activity was done with a partner so that we were able to practice our turn taking skills and cooperation skills. We also explored the sensory table with our partner as well. The sensory table is filled with sand. We worked with our partner to build things like sand castles and cars. Then, we practiced scooping and dumping.
Math Counts:
Today for math we worked on strengthening some of our every day math skills such as sorting. The boys are very interested in the transportation area, so we sorted cars by size and color. Then we sorted them by our favorite to least favorite. The girls love to explore our home living area. We sorted the food in the kitchen area into various categories such as fruits, vegetables, and foods we love to eat. Then we counted all the food in each group.
