Happy 6 month birthday to Sydney!

Happy 6 month birthday to Sydney!

Post by Meghan »

Sydney is 6 months old today! Wow, time has really flown!

She is sitting up pretty well on her own. I am not quite ready to leave her sitting by herself and walk away without piling pillows around her yet, though. She has also begun pulling herself into a standing position. If I take her hands she will stand right up. She is so proud of herself, and gives me a huge grin every time she does this. She has not yet figured out that she can pull herself up on objects other than me.

Some random cuteness:

The other night I thought she felt a little warm, so I decided to take her temperature. (Turned out to be normal.) I put the thermometer under her arm, and tried to hold her still. She kept starting at the end of the thermometer sticking out from under her arm. Finally, she couldn't stand it any longer, lunged forward, and yep, started sucking on the end of the thermometer. Crazy baby.

Then last night I was sitting on the couch with her in my lap, facing me. I was wearing a T-shirt with a small Adidas logo on the upper right chest. She leaned forward until her face was about an inch from the logo, and stared at it, wide-eyed and open-mouthed, as if it were the most fascinating thing in the world. Then she started yelling at it. She wasn't unhappy; she just had a lot to say to that logo!

On a slightly related note, Sydney has a little pink Adidas warm-up suit (hand-me-down from cousin Kendall). I call it the "poop suit" because every single time she has worn it, she has had a diaper explosion and it has come home from daycare in a plastic bag. In fact, when she hasn't pooped in a few days, I dress her in that outfit to get things moving. It never fails.

Yesterday afternoon, Sydney experience grass for the first time. The weather was nice, so I took her out in the back yard and sat in the grass with her for awhile. She pulled up a handful of grass and then dropped it. I thought she might find the grass interesting as it is very different from the hardwood floors she is used to. But she was much more interested in practicing standing.
