Sydney likes to play in boxes and laundry baskets and whatnot. We had an empty diaper box, so I decided to invent a new game. I put her in the box and tied a belt through the handle. I gave her a ride by pulling the box around the living room. I thought she would love this. Not so much. After 3 laps around the living room (with me making goofy faces and saying "Weeeee!" the whole way) she did not so much as crack a smile. She just looked up at me with an expression that plainly said, "Mom, what in god's name are we doing? Have you lost your mind?"
Later this evening I had her sitting on the floor in her bedroom and I tried a pair of shoes on her feet. This is the first time she has worn shoes, and she didn't like them. She refused to stand in them. She just kept trying to pull them off. She finally succeeded, and once they were off, they became the best toys EVER! She laughed out loud as she banged them together. Then she scooted over to her cabinet and slid one shoe under it. She watched for a minute, as if expecting the shoe to pop back out. Then she lunged forward, grabbed the shoe, held it over her head, and giggled hysterically. Then she repeated this sequence. Over and over. Now it was my turn to say, "What in god's name are we doing? Have you lost your mind?"
Clearly, I do not understand the difference between FUN and NOT FUN. For future reference:
Riding around the living room in a cardboard box: NOT FUN
Playing with shoes: FUN
Fun vs. Not Fun

I too have now towed Sydney around the house in the box. She must like it because she holds on and doesn't try to get out of the box. ....but she doesn't really smile unless you grin at her.
So yeah... we've probably lost our minds. Had to happen at some point I guess.
