Sick Baby!

Post by Meghan »

Sydney has the stomach flu! I had to pick her up early from daycare yesterday because she had diarrhea and had vomited twice. She also had a temperature of 100.5. I took her to the doctor and they said that it's most likely just a virus, and that she didn't seem too lethargic, so they weren't overly concerned.

She didn't eat much yesterday afternoon. She slept all night until about 4:45, when she woke up shrieking and burning up. I gave her some Tylenol, fed her a little, and then just rocked her until she calmed down and went back to sleep. She woke up happy at 7:30.

She has been eating well today, and we haven't had any more throw-up or poopy diapers. She seems very tired and run-down, but I think she is on the mend.

Sydney is 100% better this morning! She slept all night until 7, and woke happy (except for a poopy diaper). She still seems a bit low on energy, but she played happily for 2 hours this morning. (Yesterday she was only up for an hour between naps.) Her fever is completely gone. We kept her home today as a precaution, but I'm sure she'll be going back to school on Monday.

As of 11:30, make that two poopy diapers... both of which required wardrobe changes.

Sydney is back asleep now. Lots of eye rubbing today.

Ok, so much for that. The fever came back this afternoon. Meghan spent about an hour just sitting on the couch with a very lethargic Sydney. She was pretty much in that I don't want to play or sleep but don't put me down mode.

...and then the ibuprophen kicked in and Sydney sort of snapped out her funk. After that Meghan fed her apple sauce for the first time which she appeared to really like. Shortly there after, the apple sauce kicked in giving her a sugar high and we had our rambunctious jumping baby back. She did some jumping, threw a bunch of toys on the floor, and played in her walker briefly.

I was glad to read Sydney is doing better. It's so very difficult when your baby is sick. I hope the two of you don't get whatever she has. Everyone take care.

Love,
Mom

No luck on that one. I got it. It started coming on yesterday and seems to be easing up tonight. Not fun!

It's very sad having a sick baby that you can't do anything for. She's doing better now though. Today, her appetite has come back with a vengeance.
